Lisa Saltzman

Lisa Saltzman is an award-winning fine art photographer based in New York City. Her work is informed by a wide range of artistic influences, including Impressionist painting, abstraction, Cubism and twentieth-century figurative photography. A graduate of New York University with a BA in Psychology, Saltzman’s sustained interest in the human psyche underpins her photographic practice, particularly her exploration of identity, emotion and fleeting human encounters.

She studied photography at Christie’s Education and the International Center of Photography, where she holds professional certifications. Saltzman is best known for her distinctive approach to street photography, through which she captures subtle moments of human presence within the rhythms of urban life. Her work has been widely exhibited internationally and has received several prestigious awards.

Saltzman has held leadership roles within the photography field, including serving on the Board of Directors of the American Photographic Artists (APA), New York Chapter. She is currently a Board Member of the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW), where she established The Saltzman Prize for Emerging Photographers in honour of her parents, whose lifelong passion for art profoundly shaped her own creative path.

Working predominantly in black and white, Saltzman’s images offer an intimate and emotionally resonant portrait of daily life in a city defined by constant movement and transformation.
