Fontana’s signature style is encapsulated by his Landscapes. The bright fields of Puglia, Basilicata and Spain come alive in his images while his arbitrary cropping reduces shapes to abstraction.
Fontana fully embraced colour photography when this was still frowned upon, when black & white was considered the only acceptable artistic expression in Photography. His compositions have often been compared to Colour Field abstract paintings and are part of the most important museum collections worldwide.
