Hold Me

In Glithero’s most recent series, Hold Me, the matrix that leaves its trace upon the ceramic surface is no longer an external object, but the artists’ own hands.

The memory of the intimate gesture — of holding the vase close to the body — is transferred directly onto the form with poetic immediacy. Presence becomes imprint; touch becomes image.

Extending this exploration of mark-making, the duo invited members of their community to participate in the creation of a coral-hued vessel. Moving together beneath a beam of light, participants held the form as it was exposed, their overlapping handprints inscribed onto its surface. The process introduced a performative dimension to the work, further documented through Polaroids capturing the moment of contact between body and object.

As the artists reflect: “The result is a collective portrait — a snapshot of a community in this place and of our time.”
